been prized for it’s perfume and medicinal qualities. Used by the ancient

from the Latin "lavare" to wash.
As a garden flower

Overview: |

Rose is one of
the most familiar, and useful oils, as well as one of the more expensive.
Most commonly cultivated in Morocco, Turkey, and Bulgaria, distillation
of the oil is thought to have originated many years ago in Turkey.
Rose Otto oil is
achieved through the distillation of the flower petals. It is considered
extremely useful in skin care situations, while massage is recommended
for cases of depression, premenstrual tension, and regulation of the
menstrual cycle.
It is recommended
that Rose Otto be avoided during the early stages of pregnancy.

Aromascope for August |

Leo
July 23rd

Focus will
be on important issues such as financial & emotional stability in
early August, then perhaps shifting to family duties. A passionate
meeting could stem from your period of social stardom during mid-month,
but don't rush in to anything or you could go too far. Any slightly
overstepped boundary should be fixable, though.

I
am a Registered Massage Therapist and budding Aromatherapist living
in Texas. We have a serious problem with "Fire Ants" here. They
are tiny little ants but their bite is so fiery that it can leave a
pustule and even scarring. The bites are very painful and the surrounding
area generally turns red and the victim has terrible pain. They
build nests that have taken over most of Texas.
I
have a reaction to these bites causing edema to the effected limb and
a weeping pustule if left untreated. I tried dabbing a little neat Lavender
oil directly on a bite as soon as I was bitten. The pain went away immediately
and no pustule or edema formed. Fire Ants are no longer a problem for
me. Pass this on to other Texas folks.

Did You Know |
|
That
many essential oils work best when combined with other oils, and carriers,
as necessary? This blending is thought to enhance the existing properties
of all essential oils within the blend, and is knows as the creation
of 'synergy'.

"Something
I need to share with you is how bath salts can work extremely well with
aromatherapy products. For example, bath salts with a lavender aroma
can mix well with a few drops of bergamot.... believe me, this idea
will work well if you soak your body in the bath tub for about 20 minutes...
"
Thanks
to Linda for her suggestion!
